graduate lecture series
Since the Fall 2000 Semester, the Graduate Lecture Series has brought one guest speaker to the campus each semester to discuss a topic that is timely and interesting to the campus and the community. The programs are free and open to the public, preceded by a reception. Usually the speaker talks for about 45 minutes to one hour and then encourages questions and comments from the audience.
The Fall 2009 program was Erik van Ommeren, the Director for Innovation of Sogeti USA, speaking on “Me the Media”, about Web 2.0, social networking, and their applications in industry, communications, etc. The program was on Monday, October 26. A blog of ‘Me the Media” is at http://www.methemedia.com/.
The program for Spring 2010 will be announced later.
For Spring 2009, the program was, “CHILDHOOD OBESITY: Fighting America’s Growing Epidemic” presented by Dr Norma Olvera of the University of Houston, a leading researcher in this field. The program was on March 23.
