Teaching Degree Master's Program (M.A.T.)

Degree Requirements

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS for GENERAL EDUCATION TRACKS

Forty-two credits of course work are required to complete the M.A.T. program in the Early Childhood or Elementary General Education Tracks. Forty credits of course work are required to complete the M.A.T. program in the Secondary General Education Track. The required courses are:

    Principles of Learning, Development and Diversity (3)
    Curriculum and Assessment (3)
    Inclusion for the Classroom Teacher (3)
    Teacher as Researcher (3)
    Internship I with Seminar (6)**
**Please note that a $140 lab fee is attached to this course.
Two-Year program students must complete a minimum of one day each week and One-Year program students will spend a minimum of two days each week in a Professional Development School (PDS) as a requirement for this course. Taken concurrently with EDUC 734 in the semester prior to Internship II. EDUC 797 must be completed successfully in order to enter EDUC 798. .

**Please note that a $500 lab fee is attached to this course.
All students complete 18 weeks of full-time, five-day/week internship in a public school setting in a Professional Development School (PDS). Completed in the final semester. A grade of “S” must be earned to successfully complete the program and graduate.

Degree Requirements for Special Education Tracks

Thirty-nine units of course work are required to complete the M.A.T. program in the Early Childhood and Elementary Special Education Tracks. Forty units of course work are required to complete the M.A.T. program in the Secondary Special Education Track.
