Elementary Education Master's Program (M.Ed.)
The Master of Education in Elementary Education is an advanced
program of study that provides opportunities for graduate students
in education to meet the challenges of a dynamic profession. The
program of study helps the student achieve the following goals:
- Develop advanced competencies in curriculum development, evaluation
and instructional design.
- Develop an understanding of the diverse nature of learners and
society.
- Assume leadership roles in the profession.
- Use technology to enhance learning.
- Understand and use appropriate assessment and evaluation (assessment
literacy).
- Engage in scholarly activities.
- Think and reflect critically about the educational process and
professional practice
(essential dispositions).
The goals and objectives of the degree program are based on the
core propositions endorsed by the National Board for Professional
Teaching Standards. The areas addressed by the standards are reflected
in the required and elective courses.
